US Orders Shipping Notice

August 29 Update

Unfortunately, US orders are paused until everything from Canada Post, courier services and Shopify has updated their systems and until we have full clarity about everything! Thank you for understanding and your patience.

What's happening?

No more duty-free under $800 orders starting August 29! U.S. government is eliminating the de minimis. All orders, regardless of their values, will be subjected to duty. Booo. Currently, we can't confirm the duty costs until August 29 and the following days after. Once they are, the additional costs will appear at checkout.

Tariffs?

Our goods are CUSMA compliant, meaning they're all made in Canada, so we're tariff safe (for now). Yay!

What to do?

Americans can still order from Paper and Rice's shop. If the implications of US customs and duty are too overwhelming to proceed (meaning the costs are more than either of us can bare), we will inform you ahead of time to cancel your order.

But....

If you choose to go ahead with your order, and there are unexpected fees charged, whether by the courier provider or US Customers and Border Protection, you are ultimately responsible for them. We will not accept or refund orders if you refuse to pay the extra charges when your package arrives.

Hopefully...

We're actively working to understand the implications of this situation and is hopeful that a solution can be found to navigate these changes. In meantime, you can also shop our products through our US retailers (see stocklist).

Thank you!

For your patience and all your support over the years. Please continue to support us and other Canadian small businesses by liking and engaging with our social media. You can also vocalize and protest your disapproval to your state's government. We hope this will be resolved earlier than later.
